Wynter’s 2021 Idaho Centennial Trail Thru-Hike: Intro Episode
From the Nevada to Canadian border, this wilderness trail covers desert, foothills, prairie land, mountains, forests and countless water crossings. Not to mention the bears, wolves, elk, rattlesnakes, and other various wild animals. Along with the scary… there is also so much beauty. Join me as I get ready to embark on a 900 mile journey through some of Idaho’s most remote and wild lands! I’m a first time thru-hiker and honestly don’t know what I’ve gotten myself into… Stay tuned and see if I ever figure it out!

Wynter's 2021 Idaho Centennial Trail Thru-Hike: Pre-trail Episode
Alright. Time for the last final preparations. Water caching, food portioning, route planning, offroading, fighter jets, stopping to look at baby birds. The essentials. This is probably going to be the shortest video I have, so enjoy it, because I'm sure you'll all be sick of hearing my voice in no time (I know I am). So sorry it took so long for me to get this out! Video editing is definitely not my strong suit and it was a learning curve for sure. Leave any suggestions you guys have, I will happily take them. Follow my Instagram page for cool photos from the hike (and also cool photos from not the hike) if you'd like: @wynterbreez1224.

ICT thru-hike Episode 1
Our mom drops us off at the southern terminus in the Jarbidge Wilderness at the Nevada/Idaho border....on a log on a hole in the bottom of the sea. Getting a hitch is hard and a taxi from the nearest airport (2hr drive away) is HELLA expensive. Reach out to some locals on the ICT Facebook page for a cheap hitch. The best way to get to the southern terminus is to come from Twin Falls to Three Creek Road to FR 288 (which is an overgrown dirt road btw). Follow that for about a little less than a mile and you'll see a gate and an orange post on the other side of it. This is the official start of the ICT. There's also a newly added ledger that you can sign! This video covers from the southern terminus (Murphy Hot Springs Idaho) to Poison Butte(ish). I didn't realize it at the time, but we were actually camping rather close to a coyote den which is next to the dried up Cougar creek. If I would have known I def would've kept going lol. But it ended up being one of the most beautiful camp sites we had in the Owyhee. If you put "Idaho Centennial Trail Head" in google maps, there should be a marker that shows up. Here's the link to the Facebook group. I got a ton of advice and information from the people on here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1348241718909384/

Wynter's 2021 Idaho Centennial Trail Thru-hike: Episode 2
After enjoying a beautiful night at Poison Butte, we hike 12(ish) miles to the famous Hunter's Cabin. This section of desert is extremely dry with no water or shade and lots of dustnados. The road walk that is almost the entire Owyhee Desert, can easily become 3-4 inches thick with mud during rainy season. At mile 23.4 (give or take) is where the trail veers from the road and you cross a field for a mile before intersecting with the road again. There is a fence that you have to cross that was recently put up for livestock. Make sure to bring either an umbrella and/or a hat and long sleeves! Even though it's hot, I'm so grateful that I decided to switch to pants and a long sleeve because no amount of sunscreen was keeping my skin safe from being deep fried.

Wynter's 2021 Idaho Centennial Trail Thru-Hike: Episode 3
The final stretch of the Owyhee Desert! We hiked 32 miles from hunter's cabin to Bruneau Overlook. There's a beautiful oasis in Winter Camp with lots of shade and a water source all year long. If you can plan to camp here, you definitely should. There's a ton of flat, soft spots to camp, just be okay with sharing with cows. Winter Camp is the only reliable source of water from the begining of the trail to the Snake River, around 90 miles. We walked a little bit slower than expected so we needed a bail out near the Overlook because we ran out of water. The last two days out in the desert were 100+ degree weather. Learn from my mistakes! TAKE AN UMBRELLA! It's worth it! Otherwise you'll be snuggled up with rattlers underneath some sage bushes.
